Public Engagement in the Welsh Parliament

Abstract This article provides an analysis of public engagement as it is practised and conceptualised by the Welsh Parliament. It does so applying interpretive framework to elite interviews parliamentary committee report forewords, in order identify institutional narratives engagement. These are identified discussed at three different levels decision-making (and ascending ‘abstraction’): practice, strategy, concept. The chosen methodology show usefulness narrative a conceptual analytical level. conclusions drawn – regarding 1) need for shift from public-facing public-engaging work, 2) lack clarity on desired outcomes, 3) continued tensions around sources evidence knowledge relevant applicable parliaments across range contexts.
